Following a career as a successful business owner in the medical industry, in 2002, Brenda Thompson made the decision to pursue real estate, an industry she had always had a strong interest in. Licensed in 2002 and began her real estate career with Keller Williams Realty. It turned out to be a perfect fit and she was a top-producing rookie that year. In 2004, she got her Broker’s license, opened her own firm and built a team of successful REALTORS.
Continuing the success of Thompson’s own firm, she was approached by another national real estate brand, who were looking for someone with the experience, knowledge and expertise to launch their flagship office. In 2011, she agreed to become the Managing Broker for the very first United Real Estate office. In a few years, Thompson had grown the Dallas office to over 350 agents and ranked #2 in all of Dallas county for the number of productive agents. As National Vice President of Franchise Operations, Thompson was in charge of launching and guiding the development, operations and growth to 85+ franchise offices nationally. A legacy Thompson is very proud of, in launching a brand as the first Broker, establishing scalable systems and operations, to growing the brand to more than 10,000 agents and launching 85 offices nationally.
In 2019, Thompson seized an opportunity to bring another national brand to the local DFW area and launched HomeSmart Stars. Thompson purchased a franchise and launched the HomeSmart Stars firm in August 2019. HomeSmart, known for its technology, training, tools and marketing, provides Thompson the opportunity to help grow the careers of REALTORS in Texas, as well as care for Buyers and Sellers across the area. Under Brenda's leadership, HomeSmart Stars quickly garnered industry recognition, earning the prestigious Rookie of the Year award from HomeSmart International and consecutive Best in Plano awards in 2022 and 2023. With over 500 transactions and $163 million in residential sales volume in 2023 alone, Brenda's dedication to excellence is evident in every aspect of her brokerage's success.
In 2024, Thompson continues to expand offerings to DFW area property owners. Thompson purchased a Property Management Inc franchise, and launched PMI LegacyPro in 2024. This firm addresses the needs of landlords and tenants, in the arena of residential property management. The firm also provides association management, including for HOAs and condo communities.
Thompson’s commitment to professional development is reflected in her extensive list of designations/certifications, which include ABR, AHWD, ASR, C2EX, CHMS, CRB, CRS, ePRO, GRI, RECS, SFR, and TAHS. She has served on the Board of Directors at Collin County Association of Realtors. More recently, served on the Board of Directors at MetroTex Association of REALTORS for the years of 2019-2023. MetroTex is the 5th largest association in the US with 26,000 members. She completed Class 24 of the MetroTex / TRLP Leadership Academy Class. She has served on numerous leadership roles within CCAR, MetroTex, and Texas Association of REALTORS. Thompson was inducted into the National Association of REALTORS (NAR) RPAC Hall of Fame, in Washington DC, in 2024.
Thompson has been named Best Realtors in Dallas by D Magazine and has been recognized twelve consecutive years by Texas Monthly Magazine for being a 5-Star Real Estate Professional. She is continually expanding her expertise and involvement. She has been featured on the cover of Texas Top Agent Magazine, as well as articles by Agents Today which published in Forbes, Wall Street Journal and Business Week, as well as RISMedia and Inman. She has spoken at Inman Connect, Awesome Females in Real Estate, and is a frequent keynote speaker for numerous other state and national conventions.
